Lesson 2 of 8 · 3:00
What is Neurodivergence?
What does the term neurodivergence really mean? In this lesson, you'll explore the concept of neurodivergence and understand how differences in brain development influence the way individuals think, learn, communicate, and interact with the world.
Rather than viewing these differences as deficits, this session encourages educators to recognise neurodivergence as a natural variation in human development. By developing a deeper understanding of neurodivergence, teachers can create learning environments that acknowledge diverse strengths, reduce barriers to participation, and support every child's potential.
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
Define neurodivergence and neurodiversity.
Recognize that neurodivergence reflects natural differences in brain development.
Understand how neurodivergence can influence learning, communication, behaviour, and social interaction.
Appreciate the importance of adopting a strengths-based and inclusive approach in education.
